Located adjacent to the nature reserves, MacRitchie Reservoir is Singapore's oldest reservoir and can be seen as the gateway to nature. Today, the reservoir remains popular for a host of leisure and sporting activities like walking, jogging, taichi, cross country, canoeing and kayaking.
Mindful that MacRitchie Reservoir holds a special place in the hearts of many Singaporeans and the sensitivity of the eco-system in existence there, works at the reservoir park focused on improvements to the basic infrastructure and amenities of the park. This would provide new opportunities for Singaporeans to mingle and interact and simultaneously form a closer bond to nature and water.
To improve the visitor experience at MacRitchie Reservoir, an amenities centre, a multi-storey carpark and an improved floating pontoon for kayakers have been built. A hill-top F&B outlet and a new building to cater for canoeing and kayaking activities have been created within the reservoir park, while a submerged boardwalk along the reservoir edge allows users to experience walking on water.
The new paddle lodge comprises storage areas and canoe rental office for the Singapore Canoe Federation. Within the new building also house the existing Aeration compressors serving the reservoir. This is a replacement of existing Boat koisk and Compressor shed of a similar areas. A new pavement is also created for canoe users leading to the existing cluster of boat stores.
