PUB will be launching a grant call on 13 Sep 2021 under the Research Innovation and Enterprise 2025 Competitive Funding for Water Research (CWR) programme to invite Institutes of Higher Learning, research institutions and industries to submit proposals.
Recovering Chemicals & Minerals from the Water Loop
As a small city state, Singapore has always been aware of the need to balance economic development and environmental sustainability. Reducing waste and adopting a circular economy approach will benefit the environment and create economic opportunities. Circular economy also provides opportunity to increase Singapore’s resilience against disruptions to global supply chains.
This RFP hence solicits technologies and solutions that can recover the following two categories of useful resources:
i) Chemicals needed in water and used water treatment processes from local waste streams (including, but not limited to, waste streams produced by PUB).
ii) Rare metals relevant to industries from seawater desalination brine.
More details on the RFP 2101 can be found in the Fact Sheet
