A 450-metre stretch of Sungei Whampoa between Kim Keat Road to CTE has been enhanced to provide a better experience for residents, bringing them closer to water. The area adjacent to the Whampoa Community Club (CC) has been transformed into a node for community bonding. New features at this node include a boardwalk connecting residents from the CC to a lookout deck that overlooks the scenic waterway. Additional seating spaces and footpaths have been created for communal bonding and accessibility. ABC Waters Design Features such as rain gardens have been incorporated to help cleanse rainwater runoff from the CC, using specially-selected plants and soil media before it goes into the waterway. The rain gardens not only beautify the environment and promote biodiversity in the area, they also provide learning opportunities for residents and students to better understand rainwater runoff treatment.
