A 1.3-kilometre-long stretch of the canal has been enhanced with plantings along the canal edge to improve the aesthetics of the surrounding landscape. A permanent waterbody was created within the canal, creating a scenic waterfront experience for residents as they gather and enjoy the new communal space.
At Punggol Park Community Centre, the existing pedestrian bridge at Blk 458 Hougang Avenue 10 has been reconstructed into a deck over the canal to provide additional activity area and improve connectivity between the bus stop and the residential blocks. A rain garden – an ABC Waters design feature, has been incorporated to improve the water quality of rainwater runoff discharged into the canal, enhance biodiversity and beautify the surrounding landscape.
